Volunteer

Any owner of Fare Share will save money by joining, but families of working owners {"volunteers") receive ongoing regular discounts of 5% to 20%, and receive a lower mark-up on their pre-orders.

Some working owners show up in the market now and then, with or without notice, for a shift of an hour or more.  Others  take on projects or other tasks which we count on them to do regularly.  It's easier for Fare Share staff if you sign up for a regular schedule of volunteering, but if you don't mind performing simple tasks like cleaning shelves, repacking bulk or sweeping the floor, we can often accomodate a drop-in volunteer.

When you volunteer in the market, you are one of the faces of Fare Share Co-op.  Whether a customer is here to ask for the name of a local dairy farm, find gluten-free flour, buy the perfect fair trade gift or a fruit snack, your smile and helpfulness go a long way toward letting them know what a wonderful community we have here.

And don't forget!  Working owners serve on the Board or a committee, coordinate and help with events and fundraising, participate in cleaning projects, carpentry gigs, and the annual inventory .  There are many opportunities.  If you have an idea, let us know!

Here is information about the Working Owner Discount Structure. If you are interested in becoming a working owner, or you have further questions, feel free to contact us and we'll be happy to work with you.
